Rather you are making your own cup of Joe at home or hitting up a coffee vending machine at work, we all love a good cup of coffee. But do you ever really take the time to think about how far this industry has come? Advancements in coffee equipment have really enhanced our lives in ways that we are not even aware of. Let’s take a look.
The Good Old Days
Back in the good old days, they would get a fire roaring on the Ponderosa and a pot would be placed over the top of it. From there, grounds would be placed directly into the pot. Some had a press which would help squeeze out all the goodness from the grounds while keeping the unpleasant part in its own compartment, so you would not end up with a cup full of grounds or beans. This was only if you have the luxury of owning a pot with a press.
From there we moved on to coffee pots, which were very slow in the early years. It may take upwards of thirty minutes to receive your first cup of coffee. While it beat slaving over a roaring fire for a cup of coffee, it still was not ideal for those who were in the hurry to get to work.
A Turn in The Industry
With time came the automatic coffee pot, which allowed you to set a timer, so your brew would be ready when you awoke. This revolutionized the work day for those who did not have time to wait on the coffee machine to do its thing. With more and more advancements, coffee machines began to offer better brewing times and more options for those wanting to make their coffee at home.
There was a true turn in time when the single cup machine came about, as this met you no longer had to worry about making a whole pot of coffee. Coffee houses became more and more popular as the industry brought faster coffee machines, and with that came chains such as Starbucks and Costa.
Most offices now offer high tech coffee machines or coffee vending machines in their breakrooms. Coffee is no longer just a drink that can be enjoyed at home, it is literally everywhere you go. This is all thanks to the advancements in the coffee industry. Machines allow brews to be done in minutes, cups only take seconds, and customers all over the world love the simplicity of enjoying a fresh cup of coffee.
